I punished Lily yesterday, she wasn’t allowed to go to a birthday party.  She was still whining about it this morning:

Lil:  Mommy, what’s the punishment for today?

Me:  So far there isn’t one.  It’s a fresh, new day.

Lil:  When there is one, will you tell me ahead of time so I can weigh my options?

Did I mention she’s 5 years old?

If I were forced to choose a parasite….

To bring home from Africa, I guess Giardia is the least complicated.  Single-celled, often killed by the first dose of antiboitcis (except for me).  There are many scarier things I could have picked up.

I just visited Easy Bake Coven and was inspired to get the garden going. We have some seeds started inside, including my very favorite Moonflowers. This photo is from the first year I tried growing them. I keep them in a container on my deck. I often plan my afternoon around watching them open. Really, they are the best part of gardening for me, each bloom lasts only one evening, and feels like a gift.

Now, from that mother plant, I've been sharing seeds with the women in my circle. A great connection through moonflowers.

Welcome to the world, Slacks!

A segment on the noon news focused on the Cruise/Holmes baby girl, named Suri. The report said that Tom Cruise stated in an email that “Suri” means rose in Persian, and princess in Hebrew.

In Amharic (similar to Hebrew), Suri means “pants”. I happen to know this because I dress a little Ethiopian boy a couple of times a day.

Identity crisis

April 22, 2006

I looked at myself in the mirror a few weeks ago and realized that I looked like a suburban mom. (not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just not the way I picuture myself) So I cut off my hair and I’m putting in new color tomorrow. A fresh look for Spring.

And I can’t stop changing the look here, either. I like this one, though.

Why can’t I post photos here now that I’m using a Mac? Having switched recently, I find myself almost always staring at a simple solution on this system. But yet, no photos.
